'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Galbraith renews battle with Pep's side.

Ethan Galbraith can't help but smile as he recalls the dramatic final moments of his team's stunning fightback triumph against Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup. That match culminated with Galbraith picking up a spectator's eyewear after the pitch-side pile-on.

During the final moments of stoppage time, Galbraith cracked the upright with a powerful strike from distance, and Cameron Burgess immediately converted the rebound before racing off toward the crowd to revel in the moment, with the crowd congregating around the players.

Extraordinary Turnaround

The result sealed an unbelievable recovery given the team had trailed 2-0 during the final 45 minutes. In the delirium, there was some collateral damage. Galbraith explained, "There was a fan trying to get our attention and Josh Key and I were puzzled: 'What's he on about here?' Then we saw the glasses. It was a funny incident putting them on. We are on the pitch as footballers but we're humans, too, so to have a joke with the fans is always good."

Pep Guardiola Test

The result earned a next round game at home against the Premier League champions on Wednesday, opponents Galbraith came close against at the same stage of the FA Cup with his former club in February. The athletic midfielder had arguably the best view when Orient took the lead in remarkable manner, with Jamie Donley's long-range effort from about way out going in via the woodwork and the opposition keeper. It feels criminal that it was credited as an own goal.

"You would have wished they would've given it to him for having a go from that distance," stated Galbraith, who started in midfield before moving to right flank after they changed tactics. That meant competing with Jack Grealish, with whom he traded tops, and the attacker was among the opposition who praised the way his former team played positively.

Opponent's Class

"Physically they are outstanding but even the simple things and basic skills, they can just perform consistently," Galbraith says. "It seems as if they always find their target and they understand how to dictate and neutralize a game. You can think you're holding your own and then suddenly they will just fizz a pass between defenders without you even noticing. You have to be switched on at all times of the game. It takes a resilient mindset and focus just to keep pace."

New Chapter

Swansea pushed to sign Galbraith in January and beat off competition to secure him in the summer in a seven-figure transfer. He established himself as a fans' favourite across a couple of years at his former club and has quickly achieved similar status in Wales. At Orient he reunited with the coach, who previously gave Galbraith his first extended run in senior football on loan at a League One side from United. Then came a spell at fourth-tier Salford City, before he departed Manchester United.

Development Path

"I was perhaps a slightly green going into senior level. I think a lot of players would say youth team games is very different. Sometimes it appears play is circulated without much intensity. There are limited physical contests. Once you start playing first-team football you have to learn quickly."

International Recognition

His progress reflects that development for his team and nation, excelling for his national side, who could still reach the World Cup next summer via the qualifying rounds and for whom he has featured in the last several matches, including both legs fixtures against Germany. His former international manager, Galbraith's former international manager, paid him the highest praise, saying he was Northern Ireland's "little Iniesta or Xavi" given how he manipulates the ball and his ability to spot a killer pass.

Humble Beginnings

This marks an incredible journey for the youngster from the local area in the Belfast suburb, just outside Belfast, who grew up watching his parent, the elder Galbraith, also a central player, play for Ballyclare Comrades.

Red Devils Debut

The player's single match for United came in Central Asia in 2019, a continental tournament trip to Astana, where they competed on an plastic turf and the venue ceiling was shut owing to temperatures of -15C. "This represented a lengthy journey and it was freezing," he recalls, smiling. "The days leading up, several youth players and I worked out jointly, so that assisted our preparation. Just to join the main group and make an appearance at the end was incredible."

Moving On

How hard was it to depart Manchester United, the club he transferred from aged his mid-teens? "It was quite easy, because I arrived at the moment where I knew I wouldn't break through at the senior squad. I'm hugely grateful for the years at the club but it reached a stage where I felt I had to take a different path, join a smaller club and play men's football. Now I'm slowly climbing the ladder."

Life in Swansea

It is the early part of the afternoon at Swansea's Fairwood training base but Galbraith has a commitment at late afternoon: a driving theory test, another step towards getting on the road. Prior to relocating to his new neighborhood, the 24-year-old was a constant rider in Swansea's nicknamed player transport, a minibus driven by team personnel, the transport team, which shuttles players to and from training and matches.

"My companions include the Portuguese player, the Brazilian, Malick Yalcouyé – a former passenger used to be in it but has begun using his own car. It's enjoyable to socialize with the guys but I'm aiming to be the next one out of the minibus and behind the wheel. Franco enjoys practical jokes; he's always up to all sorts."

Public Engagement

During his time at Orient, Galbraith would travel alongside followers on London's Central line after starting his journey at his base. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
